Comedy in advertising

Comedy in advertising

28th Mar 2013

Comedy in advertising is a really great way to deliver a message. And get your message out, because if it is truly funny people will share it. Now, I’m not saying anything we don’t already know. Look at the Superbowl ads, almost all of them are humor based and the funnier the better and more memorable. Remember Darth Vader.

Driving to the office today I was listening to the Jay Thomas radio show and he played an anti-smoking TV ad from Canada. It got my attention and when I arrived in the office I searched for it on YouTube. Lo-and-behold, it was even funnier on video. Check it out here. Now, I’m not advocating for either side, however the use of comedy to get the message across is fantastic. The otherside of comedy in advertising in the digital age is that we all want our videos to go ‘viral’ and be viewed by millions.

Here at the Piggyback Rider, we’re no different and have tried a number of ways to use comedy in advertising to get our message out. Obviously what may be humorous to us may not be funny to others (probably why we haven’t gone viral yet). But we’re trying. So check out our latest attempts at comedy in advertising.
