Hydration Day
Posted by The Piggyback Rider Team on 19th Jun 2017
June 23rd is National Hydration Day, and having our headquarters located in Arizona, we know the importance of staying hydrated. This week the temperatures will be up to 115+, as well as being hotter than normal in other parts of the country. It will be extra important that everyone is staying hydrated, especially when using the Piggyback Rider.
Luckily, because we are so familiar with those hot summer days, we included a hydration pack for both parent and child in our EXPLORER model Piggyback Riders. The adult hydration pack includes a 1.5L bladder and the child version includes a 1L bladder. These are great accessories to have when you are out exploring and hiking around to ensure that you stay hydrated!
Now for a few facts about water and hydration that you may not have known:
#1 Adults should be drinking at least half their body weight in ounces of water each day. So if you weigh 150 lbs, you should be drinking 75 oz of water each day.
#2 Kids should drink anywhere from 5-11 cups of water daily depending on gender, weight and activity level.
#3 By the time a person feels thirsty, his or her body has lost over 1 percent of its total water amount.
#4 About 60-70% of our bodies are made up of water.
#5 Water weighs about eight pounds per gallon
We want to encourage everyone to drink plenty of water all the time, but especially during the hot summer months and when doing any physical activity. The Piggyback Rider encourages safe hiking and exploring, which is why we offer those hydration packs. To get your own, visit us online and order your Piggyback Rider today!
