National Granola Bar Day
Posted by The Piggyback Rider Team on 18th Jan 2017
We’re celebrating National Granola Bar Day with homemade granola bars! There’s nothing better to fill your Piggyback Rider on a day hike than an energy packed bar that keeps you going all day. Homemade definitely has its advantage, too. You know exactly what ingredients are being added and you know what nutrients you’re getting. There’s many options, for whatever mood you’re in. Here are our favorites:
Chocolate Chip Almond Butter Granola Bars
Brought to you by The Minimalist Baker, These granola bars are vegan and require no baking. We love to make this for a sweet treat while hiking that won’t give us a sugar crash after eating them. You only need 6 ingredients, and they’re things you find in your pantry at home. We love these because they’re easy to wrap and store easily in the Piggyback Rider.
Super Food Energy Bars with Cacao
These granola bars are packed with nutrients and natural ingredients to keep you moving all day. These are brought to you by The Rawsome Vegan Life. The recipe makes about 15 bars, with some mixture left over in the end. They made granola bites and put melted dark chocolate over the top for the sweet tooth in all of us.
While these options are healthy and great for day outside hiking, let’s not forget about the kids (and the moms and dads) who just want something sweet to snack on. These granola bites sure are tasty!
No Bake Energy Bites
Creamy peanut butter, chocolate chips, and oats rolled into one sweet tooth craving bite! We love that these are easy to make, and even easier to pack. You can pack them for a breakfast on the go, or a day hiking with the family. Thanks to Cooking Classy for the recipe!
It’s time to get to your pantry and start grabbing ingredients. Celebrate Granola Bar Day with us with one (or more) of these recipes and pack your Piggyback Rider with fuel for a great day outside.
