Fun Staycation Ideas for the Whole Family
Posted by The Piggyback Rider Team on 19th May 2021
In some cases, you aren’t always able to travel for a family vacation. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t create a fun vacation for your family at home. With a little creativity, you can turn your home into a fun destination you can all enjoy.
Create an Outdoor Movie Festival
Movie festivals are a popular summertime activity, and you can make one in your very own backyard. It all starts with creating the right atmosphere. You can get creative here and set out a bunch of blankets, chairs, or even make cars out of boxes for your own drive-in. Stinging lights or hanging lanterns are a great way to illuminate the night without disrupting the movie. Of course, the most essential element is the screen you’re watching on. If you have a projector, it can be as easy as hanging a white sheet. To make it even more special, you can add decorations that are on theme with the movies you’re watching. Last but not least, make sure you have an excellent concession stand that the whole family will love. There are plenty of other ways to make the movie night fun. For example, you could have a mini “awards ceremony” for where you all are the judges.
Camp In Your Living Room
If you can’t go outside, why not camp in the living room? All you need to do is clear out plenty of space to pitch a tent. Of course, if you don’t have a tent or if yours is too big, you can make your own out of sheets and blankets. Adding in plenty of extra pillows will make it even more comfortable. If you have a fireplace, you can recreate one of the most exciting parts about camping: roasting marshmallows over the fire. Just make sure you clean out your fireplace system before turning it on, especially if you haven’t used it in a long time. In addition to these essential elements, you can make the night fun with some activities like telling ghost stories or singing camp songs.
Make an At-Home Spa
Everyone needs a little pampering now and then and it’s never too young to teach your kids some self-care. Having an at-home spa day can be a special experience to help everyone relax. To start, you want to create the right atmosphere with some gentle music, soft lighting, and made even some nice smells. You can serve special drinks and finger foods for everyone to enjoy throughout. Your “spa treatments” can be simple and natural. Overall, you just want to create a special experience akin to going to a high-end spa.
This year, you can have a fun and creative staycation. With some imagination and ingenuity, you can turn your home into any destination. Your kids will surely love the effort you put into it and you’ll have the opportunity to make some lasting memories.
