Celebrate Leap Day with the Piggyback Rider
Posted by The Piggyback Rider Team on 26th Feb 2020
Leap Day only happens every 4 years, so why not make it an excuse to celebrate the extra day in February by getting outside and being active with your family. No matter where you live, snow or shine, the Piggyback Rider is made for all weather, allowing you to go on adventures you never thought possible.
In case you didn't know, the science behind the leap day is to help keep us in sync with the seasons. If the world continued on with 365-day years, June would fall in the middle of winter for the northern hemisphere.
We are rounding up some excellent places where you can take your Piggyback Rider to celebrate the 29th day in February!
Disneyland/Disneyworld - you don't have to wait until a birthday or holiday, use this extra day, every four years, to plan your Disney trip. Bringing the Piggyback Rider along allows you to maneuver through the crowds, while also giving your child a much needed break from walking. Remember that as much as they want to keep up, they will need to be carried at some point.
Hiking Your Local Trail - you may have been putting off that trail you've seen while driving, but the time is now! With the extra day in February being on Saturday, you'll have all day to get the family ready to adventure. Don't leave the toddler at home! You can bring them with you when you have the Piggyback Rider. Allow them to hop on and off as they please to enjoy being active, while also giving them breaks.
Anthony, Texas, or Anthony, New Mexico - Both claim the title of “Leap Year Capital of the World.” To celebrate the leap year, the town in Texas holds a large festival that features square dancing, fun events, and activities on a nearby farm, and it even offers a tour through an Aztec cave. If you live near either one of these cities, grab your Piggyback Rider and your toddler and start the sightseeing adventure!
Make Up Your Own Adventure - since Leap Day only happens every 4 years, you can make up an adventure with your family that becomes an every 4 year tradition. Go to your special place, hike that huge mountain, eat that treat. Whatever it is you decide, don't forget to bring your Piggyback Rider along. It's a celebration in itself when you don't have a whiny toddler!
