Want to turn your kid into a skier? Fifth-grade programs nationwide can help.

Yes, skiing and riding can get expensive, we understand that, but there are few outdoor experiences like being on a mountain together that cranks up the fun meter across all ages and sexes. Our friends over at Ski Magazine feel the same way about Fifth Grade Passport programs at ski resorts across the country. A special program available to Fifth Graders (and in some cases Sixth Graders) across the U.S., Passports let appropriately aged kids ski at all or nearly all the resorts in a given state up to four times each for the price of the application fee—typically $10–$35. (Here’s a link to the story).

While you’re at it, check out Ski Magazine’s site where you can find the 2013 resort rankings. Here’s a link to the East Coast rankings and here’s a link to the West Coast ratings.

Ski Happy.
